The metaphor is called the Brass Ring. It commonly means going for the highest prize. And in the world of the Investors in People (IiP) Standard, there is no higher prize than the Gold Certification.

Last February 9, 2015 Lyceum of the Philippines – Laguna (LPU-L) was certified Gold for the IiP Standard. The assessment team consisted of Miss Janet Webster, current IiP Chairperson, and Ms. Chit Ventura, the first female president of the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) and current IiP Corporate Secretary.

The assessment team was welcomed by the leadership or “Power Team” of LPU-L. The team’s members are: Dr. Flora V. Javier Executive Vice-President and Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Mr. Crisostomo Malabuyoc, Vice-President for Administration, Ms. Joy Escurel, Finance Manager, Ms. Neren Mendoza, Internal Audit Manager, Dean Felipe Balingit Jr. of the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA), Ms. Janet Calupitan, Dean of the College of Allied Medicine (CAM) , Dean Cel Tibayan, from the College of Arts and Sciences, Dean Lilian Silang from the College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM), Dean Ricky Bustamante of the College of Engineering and Computer Studies (COECS), Mr. Rizalino Juliano, Coordinator of the Planning and Quality Assurance Office, Mr. Ramon George Atento, Director for the Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO), Miss Rochelle Sasuya of the Guidance and Testing Center.

The opening ceremonies began at 8:00 AM. The formal assessment kicked off with an interview with the Power team, followed by verification interviews among the middle managers and staff. Janet Webster said that LPU-Laguna’s main strengths were its culture of continuous learning, a strongly-embedded social responsibility program, and the overall sense that people were proud to be part of LPU.”

“We got the overall sense that people were proud to be a part of the organization,” Webster said.

The affair formally ended at approximately 7:15 PM, with members of both the IiP and LPU teams doing a “thumbs up” for a job well done.

With the certification, LPU-Laguna joins Q2 International Consulting and Lyceum of the Philippines University — Baatangas (LPU-Batangas) as the only three organizations that have obtained Gold status in IiP.

The Investors in People (IiP) Standard is an internationally recognized certification for best practices in Human Resource Management and Organizational Development. Its headquarters is located in the United Kingdom (UK).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
