Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) – Laguna joined the 20th anniversary celebration and conference of Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) at Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), Nakhon Rachasima, Thailand last July 25-29,2015. The Dean the College of Engineering and Computer Studies (COECS) Engr. Ricky V. Bustamante, LPU-Laguna’s delegate attended this event, together with LPU-Laguna and LPU-Batangas President Dr. Peter P. Laurel and Linkages and International Affairs Executive Director Dr. Leon Ramos Jr.
Parallel conferences were held by World University of Technology Colloquium (WUTC) and SUT . The AUAP conference was attended by more than one hundred delegates from Colleges and Universities across the globe. This years’ theme was “Globalization Impacts and Challenges”. Engr. Bustamante partakes in the timely and informative presentations and learned the best practices shared by resource speakers. LPU was able to take the opportunity to forge Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 15 other member-delegates of the AUAP. The agreement aims to develop collaborative programs such as faculty and student exchanges, research partnerships, among others.
This endeavor is another significant mileage of LPU-Laguna for its internationalization efforts. Participation of the institution will strengthen its network with other higher educational institutions from across the border. Moreover, LPU Laguna is currently processing its institutional membership with AUAP to allow the latter to become a bridge for a unified voice on issues that affect the development of higher education in the greater Asia and the Pacific region.
