Last November 23, 2014, 269 Indutrial Engineering graduates from different universities nationwide took the Certification Examination for Industrial Engineers. This examination was held at University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City and University of San Carlos, Cebu City.

LPU-Laguna got a 100% passing rate in the recently concluded Industrial Engineering Certification Exam, as compared to the national passing rate of 76.2%. Four Lyceans successfully passed the Certification Exam for Industrial Engineers last November 23, 2014. Our very own alumni- Ms. Althea Mendoza, Mr. Francis Ryan Aquino, Mr. Emilio L. Pabon Jr. and Mr. A-Jay Rimas — are LPU-Laguna’s Certified Industrial Engineers The exam covered eight subjects: Engineering Economics, Engineering Management, Operation Research, Probability and Statistics, Production System, Elementary Electronics, Chemistry, and Engineering Ethics.

This certification exam was administered by Industrial Engineering Certification Board and Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers to evaluate and test the competency of industry engineering graduates. It equates to licensure examination of the of the other engineering field. The said examination is also a requirement to become an Associate ASEAN Engineer.

Four Lyceans successfully passed the first ever Psychometrician Board Exam last October 28 & 29, 2014. Our very own alumni- Ms. Kristine Joy Calayeg (B.S. Psychology 2014) and Mr. Michael Oliver Caguete (B.S. Psychology 2014) — and employees- Ms. Felisse Marianne Z. San Juan (OSS Head) and Ms. Mayette Gabrielle Manalo (Student Welfare Officer) — are LPU-Laguna’s Pioneer Licensed Psychomentricians. The exam covered four subjects: Psychological Assessment, Abnormal Psychology, Industrial Psychology and Theories of Personality. LPU-Laguna got a 50% passing rate in the recently concluded Psychometrician Board Exam, as compared to the national passing rate of 39.29%.

One of the thrusts of LPU-Laguna is the development of a strong research culture. COECS as a home of young researchers, has shown its competence in the international setting through the research presentation of Engr. Rionel Caldom in the 15^th Asia Pacific IE and Management Systems (APIEMS) in Jeju Island, South Korea.

This preceded the successful COECS Faculty Research Colloquium held last September 17, 2014 in LPU-Laguna Campus were faculty members and students convened to talk about various significant studies that contribute as solutions to contemporary issues. COECS students have also manifested the love to research. In fact, eighteen student-researches were invited for presentation in the “National Research Seminar & Workshop on Undergraduate Student Academic Leadership and Research”.

This was conducted in Baguio City last Oct. 22-24, 2014. However, only ten (10) researches were presented. The research capability of the college shows a great potential for the institution to be known as a centre for research in Engineering and Computer Studies.
