LPU-Laguna delegates headed by Associate Research Director Gerby Muya presented research papers at the 24th Asian Media and Information Centre (AMIC) Conference on June 10-13, 2015 at Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication at the American University in Dubai (AUD) Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
For the first time LPU Laguna joined AMIC as paper presenters among the 200 participants who are media practitioners, media experts and academics from around the world. Muya proudly said that three research papers were presented; one of which was presented by AB Communication alumnae Shaun Danielle Sager. She added that LPU-Laguna’s presence at AMIC has inspired them to produce researches that meet the demands of the changing communication environment and are at par with international standards.
CNN Anchorwoman Erin Burnett and Vice Dean of the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California Dr. Philip Seib were the keynote speakers at the conference with the theme Communicating in an e-Asia: Values, Technologies and Challenges.
Papers presented include Reception Analysis on Choose Philippines Facebook Page by Haizzel G. Andal, Jestine Philip A. Dela Cruz, Roxanne Y. Rivera, and Dr. Florcelita G. Zamora; Influence of Mobile Phones on an Indigenous Community in Bamban, Tarlac, Philippines by Mark M. Evangelista, Erikka V. Pimentel, Shaun Danielle P. Sager and Dr. Florcelita G. Zamora; and Constructing The Student-Teacher Identities Through Mobile Phone Text Messages by Gerby R. Muya and Dr. Pamela Custodio.
According to Muya, LPU-Laguna aims to regularly join AMIC and send more paper presenters at AMIC’s future conferences. She emphasized that LPU-Laguna, in its commitment to achieving excellence in educational processes, will become more visible not only in national but also in international conferences that cater to the different programs LPU-Laguna offers.
