LPU-Laguna conducts seminar on Intellectual Property Rights

Lyceum of the Philippines University-Laguna’s Research and Statistics Center conducted the first Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights, June 28, Tuesday, at the Nursing Skills Lab, PHL Building.

The seminar aims to advance the knowledge of the faculty and students about the dimensions of intellectual property and the process for applying intellectual property rights. The following speakers, who all come from LPU Manila’s Innovation and Technology Support Office, graced the event: Dr. Victorina H. Zosa, Research Director of LPU- Manila; Dr. Samuel S. Chua and Atty. Aileen V. Sicat.

“The seminar enlightened my concept towards intellectual property hence, proper knowledge will result to claiming novelty words on research,” shared Dr. Nelson Tenorio, faculty, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) . Dr. Tenorio also said the seminar serves as an eye opener on the possibilities and rights that researchers may have in conducting studies.”

Likewise, Engr. Ryan Curbano, faculty, College of Engineering and Computer Studies said,“This seminar increased our awareness on how to preserve original works of faculty and students. It also helps us in creating our own policies and guidelines in this institution”, he added.

Intellectual Property Coordinator, Engr. Rionel Caldo, spearheaded this event in coordination with Ms. Gerby R. Muya, Director of Research and Statistics Center. Faculty and students from different colleges attended this activity.
