Voyage reaps awards in Luzonwide presscon

Voyage, the official student publication of Lyceum of the Philippines University – Laguna, made waves and brought home numerous awards in the recently concluded 14th Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference held at Pulsar Hotel, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan last Feb. 5-7, 2015.

Out of 129 schools comprising of 752 delegates, Voyage emerged victorious in both group and individual contests.

The latest issue of Sparta Magazine was hailed the 3rd Best Magazine, after having been ranked second for Best Cover Page, third for Best Literary Page, and fifth for Best Page Design. On the other hand, Layag, the official literary folio of the publication, snatched the 5th Place for Best Folio. It got the 7th, 9th, and 1st places for Best Cover Page, Best Page Design, and Best Concept, respectively. In addition, the Voyage Broadsheet released last first semester was declared 4th Best News Page.

For the individual contest, Editor in Chief Bianca Marielle Trovela placed ninth in Copyreading and Headline Writing (English) and tenth in Photojournalism (English). Associate Editor Lady Arvie Magararu continued the winning streak in Photojournalism as she won 3rd Place in the Filipino category. Lastly, Staff Writer Jannica Dominique Claros was announced the best poet in English, after beating others with her 1st Place finish.

All the 3 Voyage participants won in their respective contests.

Ms. Felisse Marianne San Juan, Voyage adviser, claimed that this competition was the publication’s “best performance to date”.

“The Voyage editors and staff really worked hard to win in both the regional and luzonwide press conferences, that’s why I’m so happy that all the challenges and hardships they encountered have paid off,” she added.

Voyage has been joining regional and national tertiary press conferences since 2011.
