LPU (UNESCO). Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna (LPU-L) student organizations attended the 2016 Youth for UNESCO International Assembly held at Cebu Normal University, Cebu City, September 20 – 23. The Voyage Group of Student Publication was awarded as Top 8 Outstanding UNESCO Club in the Philippines while Ms. Ericka Joyce Panghulan, 5th year BS Industrial Engineering student, was hailed as Top 6 Outstanding UNESCO Youth Leader. Four LPU-L organizations received their recognition of Good Standing namely, The Voyage Publication, College of Engineering and Computer Studies (COECS) Council, Lyceum of the Philippines Industrial Engineering Society (LPIES), and Pets and Animal Lovers Society (PALS). Joining the growing UNESCO family, Lyceum Supreme Student Council (LSSC), Communicators Society (COMMSoc), and Lyceum Kalikasan were among the newly accredited organizations. Different competitions were also held during the assembly. Voyage’s Art Editor, Julius Keen Dojino, brought home the 1st place in the Poster-Making Competition while, Associate Editor, Delfin Java Jr., grabbed the 3rd place in the Poem Writing Contest, Filipino category. LSSC President and COECS Representative, Glenn Christopher Lambino and Kim Carlo Lat, won 3rd place in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Quiz Bowl. Moreover, Voyage’s Editor-in-chief, Adriane Dave Teves, was elected as Public Relations Officer for Luzon of the National Association of UNESCO Clubs in the Philippines, Inc. The purpose of the assembly is to provide an avenue for sharing of the best practices and ideas and to promote collaborations for the championing of SDGs at the grassroots level.
