INSTITUTIONAL PROFILE

Lyceum of the Philippines – Laguna is a non-sectarian institution of learning, incorporated under the corporation laws of the Philippines vested with the power granted to corporations in general under the law of the land, those set forth in its articles of incorporation and by-laws, and such other powers as may be further provided by law.

The school was originally called Lyceum Institute of Technology (LIT) and was incorporated on January 18, 2000. It was founded by Dr. Sotero H. Laurel, who also served as its first president. The Chairman of the Board is Mr. Feliciano L. Torres, who is also the President and the General Manager of Yazaki-Torres Manufacturing Inc.

It occupies a 14.15-hectare prime property along the national highway in Calamba City en route to Sto. Tomas, Batangas, in front of the Yazaki, Torres Manufacturing, Inc. Only 3.5 hectares is occupied by its building and surrounding facilities. There are three buildings totaling about 30, 000 square meters of floor area that house the different administrative offices, classrooms, laboratory rooms, conference, and multi-purpose rooms.

Lyceum of the Philippines Laguna is a member of Lyceum of the Philippines University network of schools, alongside LPU-Manila, LPU-Makati, LPU-Batangas, and LPU-Cavite. Hence, with LPU as its distinct brand name, the school uses LPU Laguna. These networking schools share the same adherence to the educational philosophy of Dr. Jose P. Laurel. The Mission, Vision, and Core Values of each campus revolve around the credos “Veritas et Fortitudo” (Truth and Fortitude) and “Pro Deo et Patria” (For God and Country). To ensure continuous improvement in its products and processes, LPU Laguna employs the following Quality Assurance Tools:

  1. ISO 9001:2015 – The Quality Management System of LPU has been certified to ISO 9001:2015 by the Certification International which conducts regular annual audits to ensure that the Quality Management System of LPU LAGUNA continuously conforms to the standard set by ISO.
  2. ASIA PACIFIC INSTITUTE FOR EVENTS MANAGEMENT’S FIRST – INTERNATIONAL CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE **** – LPU College of International Tourism And Hospitality Management has been accredited by ASIA PACIFIC INSTITUTE FOR EVENTS MANAGEMENT for its BS Int’l Travel and Tourism Management and BS Int’l Hospitality Management Programs valid from February 2021 to January 2025.
  3. PHILIPPINE QUALITY AWARD (PQA) – LPU Laguna was awarded by His Excellency President Benigno Aquino of recognition Commitment to Quality. The school has adopted the criteria of The Philippine Quality Award for its Integrated Framework Towards Organizational Excellence.

GOVERNANCE SYSTEM APPROACHES

  1. Accountability for Management’s actions – senior leader performance is being evaluated by dept. Heads and their subordinate’s evaluation. There is a periodic management review (MR) on the operations of the institution based on internal and external reports.
  2. President’s Report is periodically presented to the board members and stockholders. In this meeting, the Board reviews the annual operation of LPU LAGUNA based on the KRA’S.
  3. Fiscal Accountability – Key financial reports are presented to the Board for analysis during the period of board meetings. Periodic financial reports such as balance sheets, cash flows, and income and experience statements are being rendered to the Board meetings. There are multiple signatories on all checks to provide checks and balances.
  4. Transparency in operations – There are policies that govern the internal control of the operations. Institution of Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015). There is a budget allocation for all departments. Enrollment fees are indicated in the student’s registration form.
  5. Independent Internal and External Audits – There is an Internal Auditor who directly reports to the Chairman of the Board. Likewise, there is an External Auditor directly reporting to the Board of Trustees.
  6. Protection of Stakeholders and Stockholders’ Interests – The school adheres to all relevant government laws, holds annual stockholders’ meetings where qualified members vote for the membership in the Board Trustees, continuously provides for quality education through accreditation, quality assurance and partners with industries, and government institutions and professional organizations.

LPU Laguna and LPU SC are committed to the improvement and betterment of the community through the various community extension activities held by the institution. With the active participation of the whole academic community, LPU Laguna and LPU SC are able to contribute to society through the Institutional Social Responsibility Office. This office is in charge of all the community extension programs implemented by students and employee volunteers including top management. These programs include outreach programs as well as college-based and institutional programs.
